COUNCIL ACTIVITIES

MINUTES FROM 12-26-07 and 01-23-08 Meetings. The Dec. meeting was a party for
Knights and wives. The Jan. meeting was called to order by the Grand Knight at
7:04 pm, followed by the “Our Father” and “Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag”. All
officers were present except the Chaplin, Chancellor, Financial Secretary, Advocate,
Warden, First and second year Trustees. A total of 13 knights were present. The
minutes from the previous meeting(s) were distributed and a motion was made to
accept them. A motion was made to strike out the Future fish fry scheduled for
Feb. 8^th and to be rescheduled for March 7^th as discussed below in “New Business.

From the Grand Knight:

1. The Grand Knight welcomed back Matt Siegmann as a knight after an absence.

       2.  The Grand Knight thanked all those knights who helped with various duties during
the busy Holiday season and referred bills from the last Breakfast to the Treasurer.

       3. He mentioned the good turn-out of Council Knights and total people at the
last Knights Breakfast and acknowledged the contribution of a $100 and $50 bill.
He also mentioned the positive monetary amount left over after expenses.

       4. The Grand Knight also mentioned the activities during the District Deputy’s
Meeting which he and Ryan Neil attended.

5. The Grand Knight reminded Council Members that nominations were in order for
“Family of the Month”, and “Knight of the month”.

6. He also mentioned the grants offered by the State Knights for Grade and High
School students.
7. He also mentioned that our council should think about our activities at the Special
Olympics. He said that when Randy Friga gets back, we will be then able to solidify
our plans more.
8. The Grand Knight also mentioned the upcoming Regional Free Throw Contest
on Feb. 23^rd.
9. He mentioned the Religious Appreciation Dinner on Feb. 28^th at Holy Trinity.
10. The Council’s Fish Fry is rescheduled for March 7^th from 4:30 to 7:00pm and that
those knights who plan on helping should arrive outside in the parking lot of the
elementary school at 3-3:30 pm.

From the Chaplin:

Nothing was reported from the Chaplin. Our Blessed Monsignor, Father Westheus
passed away.

Treasurer's and Financial Secretary’s Reports:

        The Treasurer reported on the bills and money received from activities after the last
council meeting. Also, he mentioned that financial was in good shape. The treasurer
also reminded us of the importance to wear our Council’s polo shirts to activities,
including the Council Meetings. The Financial was not present to report further.

Unfinished and New Business:

       1. Andy Love reported on the Feb. 11^th ‘Alcohol and Drug Awareness” essay and
poster contests. He motioned that the Council give a total of $125 to the 5 contest
winners ($25 each). Ben Francka seconded the motion, there was no discussion and
the vote carried the motion.

       2.  Ben Francka reported that on March 30th there will be a “Wine Tasting” Event at
Ophelias Tapas and Wine Bar.
3. Ryan Neil suggested that the Council should contribute to the Silent Auction at the
Wine Tasting Event. It was decided that we will discuss this at our next Council

Meeting.

       4 The Grand Knight commented on the new bimonthly Council’s Newsletter.
5. Jim Greer motioned that the Council donate $25 to the use of the “Fleet Reserve
Facility” because of the use by Council members. Jim Tuckness seconded the
motion and the vote carried the motion.

6. Ben Francka said he has heard a lot of comments of praise on the “Cleanup” of the
Trash area used by the Cathedral and Elementary School by the Council. The Grand

Knight thought we should do the same twice a year or so.
7. There was a mention that we discuss getting a new chaplain with Father Mike
because of the death of Monsignor Westheus.
8. There was a lengthy discussion on a memorial for Monsignor Westheus. Some
thoughts were to donate the proceeds of one breakfast or fish fry to the memorial.
Another suggestion was to donate a sum to a scholarship for tuition in his name.
A last suggestion was to establish a memorial walk around the elementary school track
field. It was decided to table the idea and discuss it with Fr. Mike. It was mentioned
that Fr. Mike thought the proceeds of some activities should go to the Maryknoll Sisters.

9. Tom Hall motioned that we should donate the proceedings of our fish fry in March to the
MaryKnoll Sisters. Matt Sigman seconded the motion and it was carried by a vote.

10. Andy Love suggested that we pray for one of his cadets who is having a hard time
dealing with a fellows cadets death.

From the Insurance Agent:

           Was not present.

From the District Deputy:

Tom Nelson was not present.

Closing of Meeting:

         The Grand Knight closed the meeting and led the Council in the “Hail Mary”, and
“Glory Be” and a special prayer for Monsignor Westheus.
