COUNCIL ACTIVITIES

The November meeting was called to order by the Grand Knight at 7:06pm, followed
by the “Our Father” and “Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag”. All officers were present
except the Chancellor, Inside Guard, and 3^rd Year Trustee. A total of 16
knights were present. The minutes from the September meeting were distributed to
the members. A motion was made by John Kubicek and seconded by Ben Francka
to accept the minutes. A vote carried the motion.

From the Grand Knight:

1. The Grand mentioned there were no new member applications to the Council.

2. The G.K. welcomed Paul O’Brien to the Council.

3. The G.K. also thanked everyone who helped at the monthly breakfast and commented
on its success and the thanks from Fr. Mike for the monthly breakfast for the parish.

4. The G. K. commented on the plan to build shelving and moving the Council’s materials
into the basement of the Wellness Building.

5. The G. K. mentioned the success of the last Tootsie Roll Drive and paying back 698
for the tootsie rolls we received from them.

6. The G. K. mentioned the Jan. 18^th Knights Bowl-athon and the $5500 goal.

7. Randy Friga initiated a discussion on giving monies to the Knight’s Striking out for
the Kitchen. He then motioned to give $200 to that effort and it was seconded by
Ben Francka. The vote carried the motion.

8. The G. K. mentioned there were no new receipts in his possession. He read off the
the money given to Supreme, to Ryan Neill, and the monies received from sales of
the Christmas Magnets.

9. The G. K. led a discussion of Supreme’s wish that our Council support the “Culture of
Life” Fund which includes programs against stem cell research, gay marriages and other
such programs.

From the Chaplin:

No report---no official Chaplin yet.

Treasurer's and Financial Secretary’s Reports:

        The Treasurer reported on the bills and money received from activities after the last
council meeting. Also, he mentioned that financial condition of the Council was in
good condition and gave the total in-the-black amount.

Unfinished and New Business:

Various items were addressed.

1. Andy Love, Council’s Family Director, was still in the progress of the posters and
papers at St. Agnes Elementary on “Alcohol and Drug Abuse”. He also reported on
the upcoming “Basketball Free Throw Contest”, Jan. 10^th at the Paladi Center. He
encouraged the Council’s help in both activities. Also, he reported on the upcoming
Bowl-Athon for the Kitchen on Jan. 18^th. A motion was made by Randy Friga and
seconded by Jim Grier for the Council to contribute $100 for prizes concerning
poster and paper winners. The vote carried the motion. Andy requested help from
the knights for the Free-Throw Contest. Anybody interested should show up at
noon.

2. The G. K. and Randy Friga led a discussion on the next Bartender’s Ball. They
encouraged anyone interested in working at the bars or doing other jobs, to be at
the Oasis Convention Center by 6:00 pm.

3. The G. K. commented in more detail about the sales of the Christmas Magnets.
He also asked for volunteers to sell the magnets after all Masses on Dec. 7^th.

4. The G. K. led a discussion on the next Trash-Area-Cleanup and Street Cleanup
coming up on Nov.22^nd. John Kubicek suggested a recycling of some of the Trash.

5. Jim Grier mentioned that we should take a certain amount of what we earn for
charity and treat ourselves for the hard work we do. It was mentioned we will
for our next months’ Christmas Party.

6. The G. K. then led a discussion on our Council’s Christmas Party on December
17^th at 7:00 pm at the Fleet Naval Reserve in Springfield.

7. Jim Grier requested that our Council Members get more involved on Parish
committees or Groups concerning plans for the Parish for the next 100 years.

From the Insurance Agent:

Joe Schumaker was not present.

From the District Deputy:

Charlie West was not present

Pray for Special People:

1. John Wooldridge requested we pray for Don and Judy Rippee for a successful
result in Don’s medical treatment for his ailment.

2. John Kubicek requested we pray for Stormy Swathers who recently broke a
hip.

Closing of Meeting:

The Grand Knight closed the meeting with the “Hail Mary” and “Glory Be”.
