COUNCIL ACTIVITIES

 

 

 

       The November, 2009 meeting was called to order by the Grand Knight at 7:02 pm, followed
       by the “Our Father” and “Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag”. All officers were present
       except the Warden, Inside Guard, 2nd Year Trustee.  A total of 20 knights were present.
       A motion was made to accept the minutes and seconded from the last meeting.  A vote
       carried the motion.  The Grand Knight next introduced two people who addressed the
       Council.

       Mark Kleene gave the Council a presentation concerning “Vitae Caring”—finding new
       ways to help pregnant women to get to pregnancy Help Centers. He showed the Council
       small copies of Bill-Board Adds in different MO. cities presenting help for these women.
       He also mentioned there was an effort to this nationally.  He asked for a $500 donation
       from our Council. The Council will discuss at the next meeting.
 

       Rocky Ganmon, co-chair for “Knights Striking Out for the Downtown Kitchen” said
       there will be a Jan. 17th Tournament at the Enterprise Lanes, Battlefield Lanes, Light-
       house Lanes and Century Lanes (Nixa).  He asked our Council to sponsor a lane for
       for $200.  A motion was made to do this, a second was made, and a vote carried the
       motion.
      

   From the Grand Knight:

1.  The Grand Knight commented on the last Tootsie Roll Drive.  He mentioned an
     amount of $1273.50 was given to the Republic School System. 

2.  The G.K. mentioned we would have a Dinner Meeting for next month at 7:00 pm
      in the St. Agnes Grade School Cafeteria.  He suggested we come with a date with
      no kids and we bring a gag-gift for distribution at the dinner.  He mentioned the
      Lady’s Auxiliary will also be there. He suggested baby sitters will be paid for
      their work.

3.  The G.K. mentioned the “Culture for Life Fund” and the $2.00 amount taken from
     the Knight Membership Fees.

4.  The G. K. also asked if anyone knew of new applications to our Council.

5.  The G. K. read a letter from the Ladies Auxiliary thanking the Knight’s for their
     help at the Fall Bazaar.

6.  The G. K. also mentioned a Thank You Letter from the Catholic Ministries.

7.  The G. K. also said our Council should help the older- people’s active groups in the
     parish, physically and with donated funds and that we will soon receive information
     on stewardship.

 

 

 

 

     

 

 

       From the Chaplin:  

1.      Fr. Mike mentioned the Mass and reception for Bishop Leib., Dec. 10th at 7:00 pm.

It’s the 25th anniversary as a Bishop for Bishop John.

 

2.      He mentioned that Deacon Mark Wand was accompanying the Youth Group.

 

3.      He also thanked our Council for the Summer BBQ,s, Fish Fry, and Breakfasts,
which he felt had a strong influence of bringing-the-Parish-together.  

 

4.      He also mentioned that we should have the Parish Newsletter by next week.

 

5.      Fr. Mike also mentioned he would talk to the Principal of St. Agnes Elementary
concerning the Council’s Wall display plans.

 

 

 

     Treasurer's and Financial Secretary’s Reports:

 

       The Treasurer reported on the bills and money received from activities after the last
       council meeting.  Also, he mentioned that financial condition of the Council was in
       good condition and reported the amount of monies the Council had in the bank.
       He also reported on the amount to date of the 5% savings account received
       from the Council activities.  The Financial Secretary’s report indicated the Council’s
       financial condition was in good shape.

 

       

 

         

 

     Unfinished and New Business:

             Various items were addressed.

1.      John Smithberg reported on the update for the “March for Life”. He mentioned
the bus from Catholic High to Washington D.C. will leave Jan.20th and it would
be nice if some of our Council Members could see-them-off. “March for Life”
will last from Jan. 20th-23rd.  Contact him for details if interested.

2.      Smithberg also motioned that the Council donate $300 to the Voice-for-Life travel
funds.  There was a second and a vote carried the motion.

 

3.       John also reported on “Bingo at the Emporium” and that more volunteers would be
 appreciated.

 

        

4.      Ben Francka mentioned the upcoming Speaker on the “Missouri for Alternative to
the Death Penalty”.

 

5.      John Wooldridge mentioned the Council’s Wall Display.  Fr. Mike said he would
discuss this with the St. Agnes Elementary Principal.

 

6.      Tim Griese asked for 8-9 council volunteers this Saturday to finish the Christmas
Decorations for the Parish Grounds. He also mentioned Fr. Phillip will do the
Nativity Scene as he did last year.

 

7.      Tim Griese also mentioned he asked Bishop James if he could help serve at the Knight’s
Breakfast sometime.  He said the Bishop is quite busy but will try to work-it-in.

 

8.      Tim also mentioned he is working on a manual to explain the Council’s “Breakfast
Essentials” to help others organize the Breakfast Activity.

 

9.      Keith Norton talked about “The Community Blood Bank of the Ozarks” and that you
could give blood for the Parish Blood Drive Activity from 4-7 pm on Dec. 28th.  He
also mentioned he will organize a telephone effort for Council Members to contact
people who have given before.

 

10.  The Grand Knight said that this month has a Fifth Sunday and Council Members should
be active in that Mass.

 

11.   Fr. Mike mentioned there would be an 11:30 am Mass followed by a Parish Pot-Luck for
 Fr. Rudolpho on Jan. 3rd. It was also mentioned that the Council should discuss what
 they should do amongst themselves.

 

12.  Randy Friga also asked for volunteers for the upcoming Bartender’s Ball on Dec. 7th.
Volunteers should show up by 5:00 pm.

 

13.  A discussion followed concerning the menu for the next Council Breakfast.

 

14.  A discussion followed on the “Keep Christ in Christmas” and Christmas Magnets.

 

15.  The Recorder made a suggestion that we consider to remarket our Tootsie Roll Drive
to help increase donations.

1.      Sylvester and his brother.  His brother died of cancer.

2.      John Bueno’s mother is in the hospital and his father and brother are ill

3.      Sister Roslee had a hip replacement

4.      Tim Griese’s wife, Shelly is in the hospital.

         

 

         Closing of Meeting:

 

        Fr. Mike closed the meeting with the “Hail Mary”, “Our Father” and “Glory Be”.
