COUNCIL ACTIVITIES

MINUTES FROM 10/24/07
The Grand Knight opened the meeting at 7:05pm after Mr. Ralph Telscher gave a
presentation on the Knights Bowl-athon-- the proceeds going to the Kitchen. Next,     
the Grand Knight led the council in “The Pledge of Allegiance” and “Our Father”.
All officers were present except the Chaplin, Chancellor and First Year Trustee. A
total of 16 council members were present. The minutes from the last meeting
were distributed and a motion was made to accept them by the Grand Knight, a second
was made by Randy Friga and a unanimous vote to accept them followed.

From the Grand Knight:

       1. New council members were welcomed by the Grand Knight. The new members are:
Andy Love, a 4^th degree transfer; Keith Snahchzel, Ned Rakosky and Ned Kennedy.
After a motion to accept these new members by the Grand Knight, Randy Friga gave
a second and the council vote carried the motion.

       2.  The Grand Knight thanked those who helped move tables and chairs for the Cathedral
Centennial social. Ann Compton also, gave thanks to the council for this activity.

       3. The Grand Knight also thanked those who helped with the cooking and activities at
Boo-fest.

       4. The Grand Knight also said we will discuss the council’s involvement with Bingo under
the old business portion of this meeting.

5. We need to put the address of the Council’s Web Page on the back of the Bulletin of the
Cathedral.

6. A letter was read by the Grand Knight concerning outreach for migrant workers in the
Diocese.

From the Chaplin:

Nothing was reported from the Chaplin.

Treasurer's and Financial Secretaries Reports:

        The Treasurer reported on the money obtained from the last council breakfast and other
income and reported the financial condition of the Council was sound. The Grand Knight

And Financial Secretary reported on the monies from the Tootsie Roll Drive and costs
associated with the activity. Also, the Financial reported the monies to be given to the
Republic School System.

Unfinished and New Business:

       1. Randy Friga reported on the Barender’s Ball to be held at the Oasis on Nov. 26^th.
He reported on the details of the Ball and said there will be an organization meeting
at 7:00pm, on Nov. 7^th at Council 698.

       2.  Ben Francka reported on the trash facility on the Cathedral’s property. He said that
someone needs to pick up the trash. Council members agreed to meet on Nov. 10^th at
8:00 am to help load the trash in a truck and have it moved. Randy Friga volunteered
his truck for this activity.

       3.  Ryan Neill scheduled a street cleanup for the Council following the trash pickup.

       4.  Jim Grier reported that we need to order of 30 council shirts for new members. John
Tuckner made a motion to do so. Ben Francka seconded the motion and a vote
carried the motion.

5. Jim Grier led a discussion on a different format for the monthly breakfast. Some
believed we needed a second line of people to help facilitate the breakfast crowd.
Also, suggested was that an earlier starting time for preparing the breakfast needed
to take place. No motion was made and the suggestions were dropped.

6. Tom Hall led a discussion that the knights make a move to help restore the Cathedral
to its original condition. Ben Francka said he would talk to the Parish Council about
this and what could be done.

7. Jim Grier said that the Centennial Committee needs people to help work during and
after Trivia night on Nov. 16^th. John Compton said there will be a meeting for those
involved at 6:00 pm at 698.

8. There was a discussion on obtaining turkey breasts and smoking them for the Youth
Group as a fund raising project. But it was dismissed because of the costs of the
breasts.

9. There was a discussion on storage of materials for the Council in the band room. It
was suggested that we talk to David Nace.

10. Randy Friga mentioned the inexpensive insurance available to Knight’s.

11. Tom Hall suggested we get more knights to the meetings.

12. Names of a few people were mentioned and that we keep them in our prayers.

From the Insurance Agent:

           No report. Not present.

From the District Deputy:

       Tom Nelson mentioned the upcoming 2^nd and 3^rd degrees. He also suggested we submit
candidates for Knight of the Month and promote Family Month in order to help recognize
the Council.

Closing of Meeting:

         The Grand Knight closed the meeting and led the Council in “Our Father”
“Hail Mary”, and “Glory Be”.

Nov. 7^th---7:00 pm, organization meeting at 698 for those working at the Bartender’s Ball

Nov. 10^th—8:00 am trash moving from the Cathedral’s property. And following, street pickup.

Nov. 11^th---Knight’s Rosary after 8:30 am mass

Nov. 16th---St Agnes Trivia Night and Cleanup for Council

Nov. 17^th ----4^th degree at Jeff City

Nov. 18^th—8:00-11:00 am—Knight’s Breakfast in St Agnes Cafeteria

Nov. 26^th----Bartenders Ball hosted by our Council

Nov.27^th—7 pm—1^st degree at Holy Trinity

Nov. 28^th—Knight’s next Council Meeting at 7:00 pm in band Room

July 15th----cookout after the 11:30 am and 5:00 pm masses. Be there to help at 8:30 am and
                   3:30 pm.
