COUNCIL ACTIVITIES

 

 

 

       The October meeting was called to order by the Grand Knight at 7:03pm, followed
       by the “Our Father” and “Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag”. All officers were present
       except the Warden, Inside Guard, 1st and 3rd Year Trustee.  A total of 13
       knights were present.  The minutes from the September meeting were distributed to
       the members.  A motion was made by Jim Tuckness and seconded by Ben Francka
       to accept the minutes.  A vote carried the motion

   From the Grand Knight:

1.  The Grand motioned that Michael Anderson, sponsored by Andy Love be accepted
     as a member of the Council.  A second was made and a vote carried the motion.

2.  The G.K. reported on the Tootsie Roll Drive and Thanked all those who participated.  

3.  The G.K. also thanked everyone who helped in the enchilada dinner, especially John
     Bueno.

4.  The G. K. reported that we got in our monies to Supreme, although there was a Criss-
     cross in the process.

5.  The G. K. thanked Sister Irene for letting the Council use that portion of the cafeteria
     used by her group during the enchilada dinner.

6.  The G. K. said that our Council gave a check to St. Agnes Elementary for scholarships
     from the monies obtained from the Mons. Westheuse “Moonlight Walk”.

7.  The G. K. mentioned various bill we paid or needed to pay.

8.  The G. K. mentioned a ‘Thank You’ letter to us from the Bishop for the monies given
     by our Council for priest clothing to younger priests.

9.  The G. K. mentioned that Form 100 has been changed.

10.  Lastly, the G. K. mentioned that Supreme asked the Knight’s to help encourage
      Catholics to vote.

 

 

               

 

     

 

 

       From the Chaplin:

     Treasurer's and Financial Secretary’s Reports:

 

        The Treasurer reported on the bills and money received from activities after the last
        council meeting.  Also, he mentioned that financial condition of the Council was in
        good condition.  The Financial Secretary reported on Bill 337 from the State of MO.

 

     

 

         

 

     Unfinished and New Business:

             Various items were addressed.

1.      Andy Love, Council’s Family Director, reported on the progress of the posters and
papers at St. Agnes Elementary on “Alcohol and Drug Abuse”.  He also reported on
the upcoming “Basketball Free Throw Contest”, Jan. 10th at the Paladi Center. He
encouraged the Council’s help in both activities. Also, he reported on the upcoming
Bowl-Athon for the Kitchen on Jan. 18th.

2.      The G. K. announced “Boo Fest” on Oct. 24th and outlined the activities with
 which Council Members are to be involved, including cooking burgers and hot dogs,
 etc.  He then encouraged members to sign up for these activities and be there at
 5:00 pm.

3.      John Bueno thanked all those who helped with the enchilada dinner.

4.      Charlie West, District Deputy led a discussion on the “Christmas Magnet” Project.
Various people contributed suggestions, including the number we should order to
 sell, and where we can sell them including after Masses at St. Agnes Cathedral and
 at the Ladies Auxiliary Bazaar.  Jim Tuckness motioned that the council order 300
 magnets, which was seconded by John Bueno.  A vote carried the motion. 
 

5.      The G. K. and Jim Tuckness led a discussion on smoking brats &/or briskets for Super
Sunday and selling them.

 

6.       Erwin Mantei and Jim Grier informed the Council about John Wooldridge and his
 new profession as a Secular Franciscan.  He will be initiated into the order on Oct.
 25th at an 11:00 am Mass at the Cathedral.  As many Knights of the Council were
encouraged to attend the initiation and pot luck meal after the ceremony. 

7.      Jim Grier led a discussion if the Council should extend the 3rd Sunday Breakfast
of each month (or some) to include an enchilada meal after the breakfast. A motion
was made and seconded to table this idea and look into the possibilities.  A vote
carried the motion.

8.      A discussion was initiated concerning the next Council Breakfast on Nov. 16th.
The discussion led to having a menu including pork sausage and eggs as the main

 

         Course.

 

9.      A discussion on how we could help the Ladies Auxiliary at their chili and beans
bazaar on Nov. 8th from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm. All knights were encouraged to call
Sadie or Jim Tuckness for times to be there to help.  It was mentioned we could
sell our Christmas Magnets at that event.

10.  The calendar of near future events for our Council was next discussed.  Because
of the holidays, the Nov. Council Meeting will be held on Nov. 19th and the Dec.
meeting on Dec. 17th.  Also, our 2 next breakfast activities will be held on Nov. 16th
and Dec. 21st.  All motions to change the above activity dates were carried by the
vote.

 

11.   Andy Love also mentioned that the boy scouts will help the Council at the Nov.
22nd waste cleanup on the grounds at St. Agnes at 7:00 am and that there will be a
Council Street Cleanup after that activity.

 

     

 

      From the Insurance Agent:

     Joe Schumaker was not present.

 

       

 

       From the District Deputy: 

      1. Charlie West reported on the Canonization Guild of Fr. McGivney and that all
           knights and Ladies Auxiliary should pray for him.  There was a motion and second
           to the motion that we join the guild.


      2.  He also mentioned that there were various Councils in the area that wished to order
           Christmas Magnets.

        The Grand Knight closed the meeting with the “Hail Mary” and “Glory Be”.
