COUNCIL ACTIVITIES

The February meeting was called to order by the Grand Knight at 7:10 pm, followed
by the “Our Father” and “Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag”. All officers were present
except the Chancellor, Financial Secretary, Advocate, Inside Guard, 1^st and 2^nd Year
Trustees. A total of 13 knights were present. The minutes from the previous
meeting were distributed to the members and a motion was made to
accept them. A second was made and a vote carried the motion. A motion was made
to correct a spelling for the name of Matt Siegmann. The correction was noted and
made.

From the Grand Knight:

1. Thomas McGinnis from Kimberling City has joined our Council

2. The Grand Knight said March will be a busy month and mentioned the activities;

a. Fish fry on March 7, which be discussed in detail later under “New Business”.

b. On March 12, we will celebrate the Retirement Mass for Bishop, John.

c. There will then be the Installation of the New Bishop, James.

d. We will need volunteers to help decorate the Gym on March 11 after 5:00pm,

to celebrate Bishop John’s Retirement and the new Bishop’s Installation.

e. To celebrate Pope John’s visit to North America in April, we need to give
a donation for special prayer cards and distribute them after each mass.

f. All first degrees given to Knight’s will receive a certificate in honor of the
Pope’s visit.

g. An update to our Council’s membership shows we have 74 members including
4 new members. However, we need to have one more to receive “The Star
Council Award”.
h. We need to pay some monies to “Supreme”.
i We should put an “Add" in the Mirror saying “good bye” to Bishop John and a
“Welcome” to Bishop James. The Grand Knight said this would cost some money.

Jim Greer made a motion that the council should spend $30 to get this done. A
second to the motion was made and the vote carried the motion.
j. The Grand Knight talked about the delegates to the State Council and mentioned
that he and the Council’s Deputy Grand Knight would be the delegates representing
our Council.
k. The Grand Knight asked that we keep Father Mike in our prayers because he has been
through a “heck of a-lot” keeping the Parish in-tact.

From the Chaplin:

Nothing was reported from the Chaplin. Our Blessed Monsignor, Father Westheus
passed away.

Treasurer's and Financial Secretary’s Reports:

        The Treasurer reported on the bills and money received from activities after the last
council meeting. Also, he mentioned that financial condition of the Council was in
good shape. The Financial Secretary was not present to report further.

Unfinished and New Business:

       1. Andy Love reported on the Council’s Alcohol and Drug Awareness Essay and Poster
Activities results for St. Agnes Elementary School. Winners were as follows:

a. 8^th grade Essay contest winner was Tom Pesek
b. 8-12 year old Alcohol Awareness winner was Brandon Treadway
c. 8-12 year old Drug Awareness winner was Kent Donze
d. 12-14 year old Alcohol Awareness winner was Tom Halter
e. 12-14 year old Drug Awarene.ss winner was Tom Pesek

       2.  Ben Francka reported on the Parish Council Activities;

a. On March 30th there will be a “Wine Tasting” Event at Ophelias Tapas and Wine Bar
and there was a lot of money for the Silent Auction for that event.
b. On March 2^nd—Sunday there will be a “welcoming for Fr. Philip after the 11:30 Mass.
c. The Parish Council was excited about the Walkathon for the memory of Monsignor
Westhues.

d. Fr. Mike discussed the Moses Project again.
e. It was mentioned that it was up too each Parish to get something for Bishop
John for his Farewell. It was also mentioned that contribution envelopes would be
distributed at the Masses.

3. The Grand Knight led the discussion on the details of the Fish Fry for March 7^th. Council

Members must be there around 3:30 pm to help set up everything. The Fish Fry will last
will last from 4:30 until 6:50 which is 10 minutes before the beginning of the Stations of
the Cross.

4. John suggested that his family could put together a burrito meal possibly to help fund the
Moses Project. Tom Hall thought this would be great if scheduled with the Walkathon
in honor of Monsignor Westheus.

5. Matt Siegmann suggested that the Knights sit together during the Stations of the Cross
after the Fish Fry. It was concluded that many of the Knights would have to clean up
after the Fry. The Grand Knight suggested we could do this another time.

From the Insurance Agent:

           Was not present. No report.

From the District Deputy:

Tom Nelson gave various important dates listed below and said he will be the contact
for all the Knights in the Diocese. He also mentioned that there will be a Stations of the
Cross on the City Square on Good Friday. He also mentioned that help would be needed
for the Installation of the new Bishop. He said around 50 are needed and he will talk to
all the Councils in the Diocese since he is the contact coordinator.

Pray for Special People:

Tom Nelson wanted us to pray for Bill Swickert who has cancer and is expected to live
only about 90 more days. Also, we should pray for Don Meyer and his family since the
death of his mother. We were asked to pray for Fr. Mike and George Donigan. Tom Nelson
also asked to pray for Monsignor Mancusco, past State Chaplin who has some serious health
problems.

Also have John Smithberg in your prayers. He is scheduled for surgery on Thursday , March
7^th for melanoma.

Closing of Meeting:

         The Grand Knight closed the meeting and led the Council in the “Hail Mary”, and
“Glory Be”.

afterwards.

March 8^th-------Fourth Degree Exemplification—St Louis (Airport Marriott).

March 12^th---7:00 pm at St. Agnes Cathedral—Bishop John’s Mass of Thanksgiving
Choirs—The Bells of St. Agnes, Children’s Choir, Adult Choir and
Pontifical Choir.

March 15^th---Due State Family of the Month candidates

March 16^th----Breakfast at St. Agnes Cafeteria (may be cancelled because of Palm Sunday).

March 19^th---Fourth Degree Meeting---7:00 pm at Council Hall 698 (may be cancelled
because of Holy Week.

March 19^th---7:30 pm---Chrism Mass at St. Agnes Cathedral

March 26^th----7:00 pm----First Degree at Holy Trinity---candidates be there by 6:45 pm.
