COUNCIL ACTIVITIES

 

 

 

       The February meeting was called to order by the Grand Knight at 7:06pm, followed
       by the “Our Father” and “Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag”. All officers were present
       except the Chancellor, Financial Secretary, Lecturer, Inside Guard, Outside Guard,  1st,
       2nd and 3rd Year Trustees.   A total of 19 members were present.  The minutes from the
       last meeting were distributed.  One mistake was noted, a motion and second was made
       to make to accept the minutes with the correction. A vote carried the motion.

   From the Grand Knight:

1.  The Grand acknowledged Nelson Martin, a new member and welcomed Gary Struemph,
     General Agent for the Knight’s Insurance for the west side of the state.

2.  The G.K. outlined the format of the meeting treated in the new and old business in these
     minutes listed below.

3.  The G.K. also mentioned that we needed to elect delegates to the National Convention,
     April, 24th—26th.  Randy Friga and the Grand Knight volunteered, and the vote carried.
     A motion was made to support the second volunteer through funds from the Council.  A
     second was made and the vote carried the motion.

4.  The G. K. next read receipts, bills and communications.

5.  The G. K. also reported on the success of the Super-Bowl BBQ and the last Knight’s
     breakfast. 

 

 

               

 

     

 

 

       From the Chaplin:  

        No report---no official Chaplin yet.           
           

 

 

 

     Treasurer's and Financial Secretary’s Reports:

 

        The Treasurer reported on the bills and money received from activities after the last
        council meeting.  Also, he mentioned that financial condition of the Council was in
        good condition and reported the amount the Council had in the bank. The Treasurer
        suggested that the Council take 5% of the monies made and put that aside for a       

 

        Council Endowment.

 

         

 

     Unfinished and New Business:

             Various items were addressed.

1.      A discussion took place concerning the Council’s Fish Fry and tentative date of
April 3rd.  It was decided that the Council would discuss this topic in the next
Council meeting in March.

2.      The G. K led a discussion on the Mons. Westheuse “Sunset Stroll”, May 15th.  A
further discussion next meeting on this topic will be in order.

3.      The G. K. called for volunteers to help in the “Take Down” of Christmas Lights
on the Parish Grounds on this coming Saturday morning at 8:00 am.  A few
members volunteered.

4.      The G. K. led a discussion on the progress of the Knight’s storage area in the
basement of the Wellness of Life Building on the Cathedral Grounds. Randy
Friga, Jim Tuckness and others offered their services for that progress.

 

5.       The Treasurer mentioned there will be a report at each monthly meeting concerning
  the 5% withholding of monies for the Council’s Endowment.

6.      Andy Love reported on the status of the Youth Activities concerning Free-Throw,
Poster and Essay Contests.  The G. K. suggested we need to become active in the
Youth Group Activities.

7.      Randy Friga mentioned the “First Night” for the Council’s Bingo on March 11th.
He said we need about 12 members to help.  If you wish to help, be there at 3-

 

         3:30 pm for the (6:30 pm to approx. 9:00 pm) event.

 

8.      The G. K. acknowledged Gary Struemph, General Agent for Knight’s Insurance
for the west section of the state.  He led a discussion on the initiative for Knight
Councils to support their diocesan priest’s benefits.  These monies could be obtained
from a small increase in membership fees or from Council Activities.  A motion
was made for our Council to support the initiative.  A second was made and the
vote carried the motion. It was mentioned that these priests needed to be Knight’s  

9.      It was suggested our Council ask Bishop Jim to be present as a server for one of our
Councils Fish Fries or Breakfasts.  A picture for the Logo would be great.

 

     

 

      From the Insurance Agent:

     Joe Schumaker reported on the K. C. Insurance.  He commented on its success and that
     no client lost any money last year.

 

       

 

       From the District Deputy: 

      1. Charlie West reported on the upcoming events concerning Knights, including the
          the Knight’s Float in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade.


      2.  He also mentioned that we needed to elect the new officers in march for installment
           on May 27th.
