COUNCIL ACTIVITIES

 

 

 

       The January meeting was called to order by the Grand Knight at 7:06pm, followed
       by the “Our Father” and “Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag”. All officers were present
       except the Warden, Financial Secretary, Inside Guard, Outside Guard,  2nd and
       3rd Year Trustees.   A total of 14 knights were present.  No minutes from the
       last meeting were distributed since there was no meeting

   From the Grand Knight:

1.  The Grand acknowledged Michael Anderson, a new council member. Also, the G. K.
     mentioned the Dave Rolling was transferring from Holy Trinity to our Council. Also,
     mentioned, Nelson Martin (3rd Degree) wishes to transfer to our Council.

2.  The G.K. reported on the Tootsie Roll Drive and Thanked all those who participated.  

3.  The G.K. also mentioned the success of our Council’s Christmas Party.

4.  After, Jim Greer mentioned that our Council should set aside 5% of our profits for
     an endowment, the grand knight concurred and mentioned a further discussion at
     a later meeting.  This is also mentioned in the report from the Treasurer below.

5.  The G. K. mentioned our Council owes “Supreme” monies for Catholic advertisement
     and per capita payment.

6.  The G. K. next read receipts, bills and communications.

7.  The G. K. suggested we make a pledge to an individual who jumps in cold water to
     raise monies for the Special Olympics.  This would be further discussed at a later
     meeting.

8.  The G. K. mentioned that Phillip Neil, prepared certificates for those who were involved
     in the (free-throw contest????).

9. The G. K. commented favorably on the results of our last Knight’s Breakfast.

 

 

               

 

     

 

 

       From the Chaplin:  

        No report---no official Chaplin yet.           
           

 

 

 

     Treasurer's and Financial Secretary’s Reports:

 

        The Treasurer reported on the bills and money received from activities after the last
        council meeting.  Also, he mentioned that financial condition of the Council was in
        good condition and reported the amount the Council had in the bank. The Treasurer
        commented on the importance and the success of the Bartender’s Ball.
        The Financial Secretary was not present for a report.

 

     

 

         

 

     Unfinished and New Business:

             Various items were addressed.

1.      Andy Love, Council’s Family Director, reported on the results of the Basketball free
Throw Contest and Drug and Alcohol Awareness Contest. He said that 8 contestants
from the Free Throw Contest will advance to further competition in the district and
that the winners of the other contest will advance to “State” Competition.

2.      Jim Tuckness led a discussion on the BBQ and Brisket meat activities.  He asked for
volunteers to help cook, and prepare the meat for distribution and distribute it.
The meat orders will be picked up after the 7, 8:30 and 11:30 am masses at the St.
Agnes Cafeteria.
 

3.      The G. K. mentioned the results from the sales of the Christmas Magnets and said
one of the local Council’s had not yet sent in their monies to us.

4.      John Wooldridge led a lengthy discussion on the water problems in Haiti.  He
mentioned his involvement in a program which sought to aid the water problem.
He asked if the Council could help support his tuition for training to carry out his
work for this project.  John Smithberg motioned we contribute $350 to John
Wooldgidge for this endeavor.  It was seconded the vote carried the motion.

 

5.       John Smithberg reported on St. Agnes Cathedral’s first involvement in the Bingo
 activities at the “698 Bingo Emporium”. This will take place on Wednesday,
 Feb.11th.  All those interested who have been approved to work, should be there
 around 4:30 pm.
 

6.      John Smithberg reported on the “Wine Walk” on Feb. 22nd at 6:30 pm.  He asked
for one volunteer to help baby sit from 8-9 pm at the Palotti Center.

7.      Jim Tuckness and the G. K. led a discussion concerning the next Mong. Westheus
“Sunset Stroll”. A tentative date of May, 15th was mentioned but, more detailed
discussion on the time and activities foe this needs in future Council Meetings.
Jim mentioned the desire of the Ladies Auxiliary to help.

 

        

 

8.      The G. K. mentioned the upcoming Knight’s Fish Fry.  He said we should think
about it more and discuss the activity in detail in subsequence Council Meetings.

9.      The G. K. led a discussion to sponsor a student at the “Youth Rally” in
Washington D. C. John Smithberg motioned we contribute $180 to pay a student
for this. After motions, all agreed on the motion.

 

     

 

      From the Insurance Agent:

     Joe Schumaker was not present.

 

       

 

       From the District Deputy: 

      1. Charlie West reported on the short audit in June.


      2.  He also mentioned that there was a 1st degree on March 24th at Holy Trinity, and
           he finished an update to his future calendar of events and get it out to us soon.

        The Grand Knight closed the meeting with the “Hail Mary” and “Glory Be”.
